ENFJs have exceptional abilities in empathy and understanding others' feelings, and a willingness to take on the burdens of others. They benefit from consulting more significant steps and decisions with someone who leans toward thinking and logic. When it comes to the motivations and intentions of others, their instincts rarely fail them. They organize their lives with an eye toward the future and structure their schedule accordingly. They love life and have it well planned out. Work and leisure both go into the calendar, and once something is written down, it is virtually certain to be honored. They tend to be excellent natural leaders. They possess a type of charisma that others willingly follow. They are rarely manipulative, value cooperation, and enjoy collaborating themselves. They are exceptionally tolerant and can always be trusted. If they fail to deliver on what they promised others, or what is expected of them, they feel disproportionately guilty. ENFJs are born communicators and take it for granted that what they want to convey, others will receive and understand. If reality convinces them that they were not entirely understood, they feel embarrassed and sometimes hurt. This doesn't happen often, because they truly command language and don't know what stage fright is. They don't hesitate to speak up regardless of the size of the audience being addressed. They have no problem meeting deadlines or staying within budgets. They rise up the career ladder because they believe they have the vision, the know-how, and the means to be of benefit. The higher they climb, however, the greater the risk that their personal values will come into conflict with what the organization considers important. Above all, they value harmonious relationships and avoid unpleasant situations. It sometimes happens that, for the sake of peace, they allow themselves to be taken advantage of and end up "under someone's thumb." It is typical of ENFJs that they can excel in many professions, mainly because they get along so wonderfully with people. They are equally good as leaders and as rank-and-file employees. They take conflict and rejection very personally; if disagreement escalates, they may in interpersonal relationships slip into a zero-sum-game strategy (one side can only gain what the other loses). They can be thrown off balance by having their core values questioned. ENFJs are indispensable during periods of major change.
